The Calgary Police Service uses three search mechanisms:

• SENTRY (Police Information Management System) - Local records of the applicant's involvement with Calgary Police Service.
• JOIN (Justice Online Information Network) - The Alberta Court system.
• CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) system and R.C.M.P. National repository in Ottawa.

This Police Information Check only provides information found at the time of the check, on the above listed systems. The Calgary Police Service does not guarantee completeness of the information, as we are limited to information available on these systems. This check does not include information found in any other jurisdiction's local police information system; nor does it include court information of any other provinces, except convictions registered on the National Repository for Canada and information entered onto the Canadian Police Information Centre System.

This check is restricted to applicants in a position of trust or authority relative to vulnerable persons.

When applying for a PIC-VS, you do not need to also apply for a PIC for the same position, as the PIC-VS includes both the PIC and the VS.

It is the police service that verifies that the position meets the requirements for a vulnerable sector check. Vulnerable sector searches are only a query of the Pardoned Sex Offender database and are one portion of our comprehensive police record checks. In order to determine a criminal history or a pattern of relevant behavior that would present a potential risk to the safety of the public, we look at the federal, provincial, and local databases and disclose as necessary.

**You can only apply for a PIC VS if you live in the City of Calgary.

If your application is being used outside of Canada, we are unable to process a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (VS).

Please click here for further information about vulnerable sector screening and possible fingerprinting requirement. Individuals applying for PIC-VS may be requested to attend the Police Information Check office for fingerprinting.

Youth are only able to complete a regular PIC. Youth aged 14-17 are not eligible for a Vulnerable Sector Search as they will never appear on the Pardoned Sex Offender database and that portion of their police check will always be clear. We do review any criminal history or a pattern of relevant behavior that would present a potential risk to the safety of the public by searching the federal, provincial, and local databases and disclose any necessary concerns on their result letter.

• Criminal Records - Adult and Youth
     - Includes indictable, dual procedure and summary conviction offences.
• Pending and outstanding charges
• Outstanding warrants for arrest Canada-wide
• Police Files/Information Reports
     - Relevant occurrences¹
• Records of not criminally responsible by reasons of Mental Disorder pursuant to s.16(1) cc (disclosed if relevant)¹
• Judicial Orders while in effect
     - Probations, prohibitions, peace bonds² and recognizance conditions
• Vulnerable Sector Records (pardoned sex offender)
• Absolute Discharge for one-year period²
• Stay of Proceedings for one-year periond²
• Conditional Discharge for three-year period²
• Alternative Measures for one-year periond³

1. Relevancy refers to the protection of person, property, and any information that could cause an individual or organization, concerns for the safety of individuals, employees, or volunteers.
2. Period commences from the date of sentencing.
3. Period commences from court confirmation of disposition completion.

You cannot apply on behalf of another person. Authentication questions will be based on the applicant's personal credit file, and the questions are timed to ensure a prompt response and to further enhance security and privacy. If you fail the online authentication you will be required to upload photos of your two pieces of valid Government issued identification, one ID with a photo, and take a selfie/photo holding the same two ID provided. This ID is manually verified so please be patient while awaiting verification.
