Types of Checks
This is the Sault Ste. Marie LPRC website for Local Police Record Checks for Record Suspension (Pardon).
As part of the application process to the Parole Board of Canada for a Record Suspension (Pardon), a person is required to obtain a specialized record check (Local Police Record Check) from every police service in whose jurisdiction they have resided in the past five (5) years. This must be done using the official 'Local Police Records Check Form' from the Record Suspension Application Guide (Step 4) available here. The booklet and forms can be downloaded from the Parole Board website and presented at each police service from which this is required.
However, in some cases people may be unable to attend certain police services due to distance or other factors. Occasionally, people may hire a law firm or private company to assist them to obtain this information on their behalf, but this may be unnecessary. You can save significant time and money by doing this yourself, as the process was designed. We have made it much easier for you to obtain the Local Police Records Check from many police services across Canada.
If you require this check to be conducted by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, it can now be done online without having to attend our offices. Fee payment and identity verification is completed through an online process. You do not need to send us the form itself, our system will take your information and generate an electronic duplicate of this form with your details inserted in the appropriate fields.
After we process the check, we return the completed Parole Board form to you by mail. Once you have it back, all you need to do is sign the form in the designated spot and include it with the other paperwork you will be sending to the Parole Board of Canada (PBC) as part of your submission.
The form you will receive from us is the same form used by the Parole Board of Canada. They have reviewed this process and confirm that it meets their requirements.
If you wish to proceed, please click the "Register For Your Police Record Check for a Record Suspension" button to create an account and submit your information, payment, and identity verification process.
NOTE: this process is only for applications needing a police check specifically for a Record Suspension application. If you require a regular police check for employment, volunteering, licencing or other purposes, please click here instead to be taken to our regular site for residents of Sault Ste. Marie or Prince Township. If you are not a resident of Sault Ste. Marie or Prince Township, click here to go to this site.
